Happy Valley, Lin Stepp, author. rural romance and fiction

Rural romantic fiction featuring Smoky Mountain and Appalachian mountain areas is the theme for Happy Valley, a new April release. Author, Lin Stepp announces the Mountain Home Books series with this first novel in that collection.

Family Takes Precedence

When Juliette Hollander’s grandfather suffered a heart attack, she felt obligated to head back to the family’s Tennessee mountain farm in Happy Valley to help out.

Juliette hadn’t planned to leave her life and career in North Carolina to return to her grandparents’ home so soon.  She certainly didn’t dream of meeting or working with the mysterious man she met briefly last summer and never expected to see again.

Walter Logan spent the past two years traveling around the United States. He appreciated the beauty of the country, but was truly running from his past. Danger is close behind all the while; he has never stayed in one place long enough to settle in or put down roots. An old rock house that he comes across while hiking near Abrams Creek Campground surprisingly calls to his soul. Now, the risk meets his new vision and he takes that chance.

Rock houses are not uncommon in the mountain areas. Often the soils are thin, leaving stones on the surface. The stones can be limestone blocks or slabs of the same material revealing inner colors. I have seen small homes using round granite stones mortared together like varied sized bricks. The walls are cool in summer and warm in winter.
