Third Time is Charming
For a third time, Lin Stepp takes us back to beautiful Edisto Island and the Avery family. Edisto Song features Suki Avery who has become an accomplished concert pianist. She’s come so far since we first met her in Claire at Edisto, shortly after losing her father to a fatal heart attack.
Edisto Island friends become adults
Now, Suki struggles with weeks of illness and fever on the concert tour. A meeting with her agent to negotiate for some time off to recover reveals shocking details. A more clear view of her value to the agent stimulates strength and independence. Advice from a wise neighbor begins to make sense.
Enter Andrew Cavanaugh, a friend since childhood days, has come to enjoy a concert. He wants to give Suki encouragement and support. Andrew, with his mother, Nora, has been a part of the family antique business. He has been a part of the family since boyhood. Now, a new baby is no the way for sister Mary Helen. Claire and Palmer were planning to be there for the birth. Andrew came to New York to represent the family at Suki’s performance.
When she collapses on stage, readers can feel Andrew’s shock. He stays with Suki in the hospital where he learns more about her problems. Her solutions will throw their ordered lives into chaos. As the author puts it: “well-ordered lives are right out the window.” But, sweet little Suki has always had an independent streak. She’s marched to her own music and done quite well.
Readers, be ready for some wonderful changes in the family at Edisto. From new babies to marriages in directions no one predicted. Suki’s neighbors in New York give her great care and advice. They’ve become fast friends and almost a branch of the Edisto tribe.
Watch for drama in places you never expected. A little crime and a murder spice up the tale. The Avery family and all the extended members are so sweet. Yet that element of evil stalks and stresses them and their reputations.

As you might guess, I’ve enjoyed this series and hope it continues. Edisto Island was not on my radar until Lin Stepp wrote this series which also includes Claire at Edisto and Return to Edisto.

Many authors and other artists have been derailed by the Covid 19 pandemic. Not Lin Stepp! She’s done fantastic work on Edisto Song. A sensitive, wholesome, faith-based story. I have to include the term, ‘WELL-WRITTEN.” The book doesn’t falter, but keeps a reader intrigued.
Tennessee and The Smoky Mountains — More than Novels.
Lin has written several novels in series. The series usually focuses on a location and community. Yet, each novel reads as a stand-alone story. Lin writes non-fiction travel guides with her husband, J.L. A favorite is Tennessee State Parks.
They follow their love of hiking around Tennessee and the Great Smoky Mountains. Hiking trails and favorite locations are the starring characters of their books.
