Battered husbands with addictions or without them, are among victims of domestic violence. Often the battered spouse is the wife, but not always. The Survivor is the story of one man.
After the Battering
Just when you think things couldn’t get worse for “Steven” something else goes wrong! If there is a lesson for those of us who haven’t endured the challenges in this book, it is to be patient, kind and compassionate to the person you meet on the street. It’s likely you have no clue about their pain.

Domestic Violence Has Many Faces
Be prepared. Rough language and violence are not inappropriate. Author experienced domestic violence as a battered husband. While these conditions without a doubt violate the policies at Cardinal Bluff, there are times when life shows up in a book, going beyond pleasant entertainment. Don’t judge — simply read.
I didn’t read the end of this book first. Only after wondering about some of the editing and thought process, I learned that The Survivor is a NaNoWriMo project.
Each year, the National Novel Writing Month occurs in November. NaNoWriMo is a challenge to write a 50,000 word first draft of a novel during the 30 days of November! When authors accept the challenge and join the community at NaNoWriMo.org, there is support and encouragement available.
Unlike many other offers, there is no specific charge to begin writing your story in 30 days. Donations are accepted from authors. Other donors are encouraged to help. Many donors understand the value of encouragement for writers. Some of the new writers have only one story to tell. For others, the challenge opens their creativity for future novels. Over time, nearly 400,000 novels have been written by the community.
The NaNoWriMO program supports a specific young writers program working with writers under 18 tears of age. Guidance is available for K-12 educators who participate,
